After high school in 1999, Beau
embarked on the beginning of his
journey as a luthier. He
attended the fall of 2000 class
at the
Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery
in Phoenix, AZ. There he
studied the fine art of guitar
building and repair. The
school is a five month course
which requires the completion of
one acoustic and electric guitar
as well as a month of repair
situations and techniques.
After graduation, Beau spent the
remainder of that year as a tile
installer in the greater Phoenix
area. In the summer of
2000 he moved back to Conn.
where he worked on guitars out
of a small shop in his parents'
home.
A vacation to Colorado in the
summer of '03 would take Beau to
another crucial turn on his
journey to become a luthier.
While visiting friends in Ft.
Collins, CO., Beau enquired
about local luthiers at the
Northern Rose, a local music
shop. A referral to master
luthier
Michael
Bashkin of Bashkin Guitars
was presented and a new
opportunity would soon arrive.
About a year later, a position
to apprentice under Bashkin had
opened and Beau headed to
Colorado in hopes of furthering
his education. After a
nine month apprenticeship in
which he was educated in step by
step aspects of guitar making,
Beau also found himself as a
repair technician in both
Bashkin's shop as well as a
local music shop.
Once again he traveled back to
Conn. where he found that his
parents were moving to those
White Mountains he had grown to
love so well. In the fall
of '05 the opportunity to move
to Maine and put his knowledge
and training as a luthier had
arrived. Wolfsong Guitar
Co. was established in January
of 2005.
Now offering a number of guitar
models and a variety of other
fretted instruments, Beau has
once again embarked on the long
and most fulfilling trail - the
never ending trail of a luthier.
